Your Anchor

nonprofit fundraising

As a nonprofit asker you've chosen to make a living by creating connections. There are other skills required to successfully do your work, but creating meaningful connections is at the core of what you do.

You create a connection to your organization’s mission, the community your organization serves, your organization's team, board members, and other stakeholders like donors, prospects, and strategic partners.

The mission, however, is your anchor. Whether you are instantly drawn to your organization's mission or it has deepened with time, your connection to it must be steadfast. It is the connection through which all other connections are established. The stronger your connection to the mission, the more of yourself you dedicate to it. If it is week, other connections will be week.

The deeper your connection to the mission the more drawn to it your donors and prospects will be. Once firmly anchored your passion naturally grows, quickly infecting others. The passion created by your connection to mission is what will hook your supporters.

What anchors you to your organization's mission? How are you connected to it? How do you regularly nourish and strengthen this connection?
