Ultra Small Business
My small business is ultra small. It's just me. This is by design. I like it this way.
This is not to say I don't enjoy working with others. I love working with others. That's how I spend much of my day as a coach to nonprofit professionals.
This is also not to say I don't get help from others - accountants, lawyers, coaches, etc. I most certainly look to these good folks when I need help.
What "ultra small" means for my business is I'm in charge of all the departments typically found in a traditional big business.
- Only employee
- Frontliner providing services
- Finance department
- Marketing team
- IT unit
- Customer service rep
- Advertising person
- Human resources
- Social media manager
- Website administrator
- Copy writer
- Database manager
You name it, I do it. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I love it and am thankful to be doing it.
It's certainly not the best path for everyone, but if you're someone with wide interests and exceptional communication skills who's dedicated to life-long learning, a one-person business may just be the path for you.
