Everyone is trying to get something. This often takes on a negative connotation; however, it is perfectly acceptable. It's okay. Securing what we need to make a go of things is actually how we spend most of our time. It's how we go about the getting that makes all the difference and determines true success. Truth, authenticity, understanding and empathy go a long way when we are asking for what we want or need. If you are a professional asker, they are nonnegotiable, each an absolute necessity.
