TEAM Up

nonprofit fundraising

Many fundraisers are self-starting, independent-minded, natural leaders. But what if you feel these traits don't best describe your current asking style?

When you're ready to take on more of a leadership role within your organization but need a little oomph, give some attention to these four personal characteristics.

Trustworthy
Your workmates need to feel they can trust you. Are you viewed as trustworthy? Do you do what you say you're going to do when you say you're going to do it?
Empathetic
Understanding the perspective of those you work with is important. Are you able to consider perspectives that may be different from your own?
Authentic
The way in which you choose to present yourself is a clear clue to who you are and how you feel about others. Are you presenting yourself authentically?
Mindful
Mindfulness is not all about meditation. It is also how you think about and treat others. Being a mindful leader involves consideration, kindness, and thoughtfulness toward others.

Being a strong, connected fundraiser and leader is all about your T.E.A.M. Pick the characteristic that you most identify with here, today, now and start being a T.E.A.M. player. Soon enough you'll be claiming your seat in the room where the movin' and shakin' are happenin'.
