It's Right There

one-person business

Sometimes opportunities are in plain view right in front of us. We don't see them because we're too caught up in...well...I'm not sure what we're caught up in. But whatever it is, more often than not it steals focus from the task at hand...our business...our work...our goals.

How do we recognize, feel, and act upon amazing opportunities hidden in plain sigh? It's right there, but it's up to us to remain attentive, aware, and present moment to moment.

Over the past twenty years of building a one-person business, I've learned quite a few valuable lessons that can help new one-person business owners stay focused on an abundance of opportunities. Here are a few of them.

  • Focus on Your Niche: Identify your niche market and focus on it. This will help you to establish yourself as an expert in your field and to build a strong reputation among your target audience.
  • Build Relationships: Building relationships is critical in any business, but especially in a one-person business where you are the sole representative of your brand. Networking, attending events, and connecting with other entrepreneurs can help you build a strong support system, gain valuable insights, and expand your reach.
  • Be Resourceful: As a one-person business owner, you will need to wear many hats. Be prepared to handle tasks such as marketing, accounting, and customer service. You may also need to learn new skills or tools to help you run your business more efficiently.
  • Embrace Technology: Technology can be a valuable asset to any business, but it is especially important for a one-person business owner. Explore software and tools that can help you automate processes, streamline workflows, and improve productivity.
  • Seek Feedback: Feedback from customers and other entrepreneurs can be invaluable in helping you to improve your business. Be open to constructive criticism and use it to make positive changes.
  • Never Stop Learning: As a business owner, it is important to stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices. Attend workshops, read books, and take courses to stay ahead of the curve.

Opportunities are all around us. These tips can help you focus on your business in and out of office hours. The more we focus on our business, the easier it is to identify new opportunities.
