Seth Godin on Data

One of my idols on many levels is Seth Godin. I read his blog posts religiously every morning.

This sentence from one of his past posts is priceless, "Information is what we call it when a human being takes data and turns it into a useful truth."

Isn't this what we strive to do as nonprofit data professionals with our organization's donor data? We take raw donor data and turn it into a useful truth - the story of the donor's relationship with our organization. It becomes information we use to further the story or rewrite it when necessary.
