No More Blackbaud Credit Card Fees?

The day many Blackbaud customers who use Raiser's Edge NXT and eTapestry have been waiting and hoping for has finally come.

On September 19th two new options for eliminating all together or reducing credit card fees will be available. The two options are Complete Cover and donor cover.

Complete Cover

• Complete Cover covers the full cost of processing. Organizations receive 100% of their donor’s gift.
• It lets donors choose at checkout if they want to help cover overall processing costs. Any extra given by your donor is optional.
• The outcome for organizations is not dependent on the action of donors. Blackbaud will cover processing costs for organizations no matter what the donor decides. Any extra given toward costs Blackbaud will use to help with fees.

Donor Cover

• Donor cover is a more familiar model that gives an organization's donors information about what fees are paid for online transactions.
• The donor is given the option to cover fees for their specific transaction.
• The outcome for the organization is directly tied to the action of the donor. Organizations only pay fees when the donor chooses not to cover.

Here are some donation scenarios along with the savings based on these new features.

Some Things to Keep in Mind

• Complete Cover and donor cover are available on both donation forms and event registration forms in Raiser' Edge NXT.
• There are differences between these two options and you can mix and match them. You can, for example, use Complete Cover on your annual fund donation form and donor cover on your scholarship donation form.
• Complete Cover will be automatically enabled on all of your donation forms starting September 19th. For event registration forms you will have to manually enable this new feature.
• These options are only available for those using Blackbaud Merchant Services.
• Options apply to one-time gifts only and not recurring gifts or direct debit transactions.
• For those of you using Online Express donation forms, you may want to consider recreating those forms as Raiser' Edge NXT donation forms. Complete Cover and donor cover will not be available for Online Express forms.
