Mission Sustaining Data

nonprofit data

Much of the goodness provided via your organization's mission is unmeasurable. In some cases, without that mission many in your community would be worse off.

There are some important data points to track to be certain your mission continues to provide as and when needed.

  1. Number of new donors
Be sure you know who gave for the first time in the current fiscal year. Spend some extra effort stewarding these donors. Research has shown if a first year donor gives the following year the chance that donor stays with you for a longer stretch of time increases.
  2. Number of lapsed donors
Your lapsed donors are those donors you have fallen off your roles and have not given in the past two to five years. Determine the best course of action to bring them back onboard.
  3. Number of at-risk donors
Think of at-risk donors as those past their giving anniversary and need some extra attention to retain.
  4. Lifetime giving
As the name suggests, this is how much a donor has given to your organization through their history with you.
  5. Donor category by amount
In this instance "category" is gift amount. Be sure you know who has given to your organization at each giving level. Some common giving categories are: $1 to $249.99, $250 to $499.99, $500 to $999.99, and $1,000 to $2,499.99.

If you don't have a handle on these data, start wrangling them together today.

Keep your mission alive and well.
