Know Your Exits

When it comes to getting data out of your database look to the exits.

Regardless of the relational database you use, one way to get data out of your system is via an export.

Think of exports as exits for data.

Is there one exit from a room or are there many exits?

A room with only one exit is like a one-to-one field: ONE person out of ONE door ONE at a time.

A room with many exits is like a one-to-many field: MANY people out of ONE door MANY at a time. In an orderly fasion of course.

The type of field you're working with determines additional options you have for exporting that field.

One-to-one fields have little to no additional options for exporting.

One-to-many fields have many additional options for exporting that help you drill down into the specific ONE of MANY data you may need.

When getting data out of your relational database, know where your exits are and head for the exports please.
