Data Flow

Everything has a flow to it...an energy.

Just like there is a fundraising flow askers achieve, there is also a flow for friends on the data side of our nonprofit houses.

The data flow I'm referring to here is not the traditional flow of data from one office to the other. I'm talking more about the data flow within specific functional areas of your database like importing, entering gifts, exporting, reporting, etc.

How does your data flow through these functional areas of your system to keep your organization's mission moving forward easily, effortlessly, and efficiently? Have you configured your system in such a way that makes easy, effortless, and efficient a possibility? If not, what changes do you need to make?

From an individual data professional perspective, what leads you personally to a state of data flow? A flow state, also referred to as being in the zone, is a mental state in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.

Data flow certainly has implications for your system. Equally as important are the activities you perform, the steps you take to stay in a state of flow as you work in the system with your organization's data.
