Recently I hosted a webinar to help nonprofit organizations get a handle on the changes ahead for Raiser's Edge and Microsoft Office integrations. As these changes approach, it will be important to explore new ways of making the two systems communicate with one another.

Previously, I walked through a simple mail merge in Microsoft Word using gift data exported from Raiser's Edge through RE Mail.

Today we take a look at a conditional mail merge using Microsoft Word and gift data exported from Raiser's Edge through a donor acknowledgement letter file in RE Mail.

This fabulous resource was posted to Blackbaud's Knowledgebase. It does an excellent job detailing the steps to creating a conditional merge and includes some important prerequisites prior to building it out. For those of you who are more visual learners there is also a video walkthrough of the process.

Follow the steps in these Blackbaud resource to rebuild a conditional mail merge outside of Raiser's Edge that currently lives inside Raiser's Edge Mail.

For a good number of Blackbaud hosted customers impacted by these changes this old-school-new-school process for producing donor acknowledgement letters will be the easiest to implement, start using, and manage.
