Your Greatness

just a thought

What is your greatness?

We often feel we have to climb Mount Everest or start the next Amazon or be the next Elon Musk to achieve true greatness. But greatness comes through daily devotion to the work we do whatever that work may be. And then stepping back to appreciate, to celebrate our part in it, the greatness we brought to it.

Many of us tend to only ever see greatness in others, unable or unwilling to acknowledge our own. When we're trying new things, attempting new goals, or starting something we've never done before, being blind to our own greatness that shows up in our uniqueness, skills, and goodness can create a tough road to travel.

I lived and worked this way for a long time. Always saying to myself, "There's someone out there who would do this better than you ever could." Or "Someone's already doing that. I could never do it as well as they do." You get the idea.

Always thinking I had to have done something fabulously great in order to have any or prove my value to others was my modus operandi for a good bit of my life. Yet I never quite felt sure of what that fabulous thing was supposed to be. In the meantime, I was building a business, enjoying the freedoms of being my own boss, days full of creativity, and trying different things - gigs, work, projects. I was so in my head about proving my value, I failed to see what I was actually building and providing for others.

So take a moment (or several) today to see your greatness. Honor it. Accept it. Embrace it. If your view of your own greatness is obstructed, reposition yourself to get a better one.
