Juggling

just a thought

I LOVE JUGGLING! There I said it.

When I was younger I used to juggle all the time. I've recently gotten back into it and holy cannoli it's awesome.

Juggling is not only fun and challenging, it's also an excellent way to see and feel bifurcation in action. When something bifurcates it divides into two branches or parts. It splits.

When we become skillful bifurcators we can focus our attention on one thing and, as my hero Constantin Stanislavski puts it, "with only half an ear can listen to what transpires" elsewhere nearby.

When you're juggling, you have to focus on the balls, the toss, and the catch while simultaneously not focus on them. It's kind of like typing. If you stop and think about typing as you type, you can't type.

The physical act of juggling can help you:

  • better manage multiple projects, thoughts, ideas, priorities, and work with less stress,
  • grow comfortable with failure,
  • celebrate small wins.

Give it a try. Get yourself some cheap juggling balls and see what happens. Become a bifurcation boss!
