Autopilot

You know that feeling when you've done something a hundred times and could do it with your eyes closed? That's autopilot.

As an independent consultant serving any field, it can feel good to go on autopilot while working with clients.

But you can only go on autopilot if you are able to grab hold of the yolk and immediately start steering the plane again, answering questions, wading into the weeds, and getting your hands dirty.

Because just when you least expect it, you get a question, a comment, a request that you've never heard before.
